There are more than 150 different species of Golden Orb spiders worldwide. With the name referring to the golden colour of the web rather than the color of the spider.
The venom of the Golden Orb is potent but not lethal to humans. The bite can cause local pain, redness that normally disappears within 24 hours. A bite could in rare cases trigger an allergic reaction.
